The UF Health Jacksonville Leon L. Haley Jr., M.D., Brain Wellness Program is an interdisciplinary treatment program for military veterans and other adults experiencing persistent health problems associated with mild to moderate TBI, along with associated behavioral health problems, such as PTS. In addition to serving veterans, UF Health Jacksonville will join efforts to establish new protocols for all patients affected by these conditions, including athletes and those in our surrounding community. By leveraging our knowledge, experience and skills as an academic health center, we are uniquely positioned to establish a program in Jacksonville that delivers comprehensive solutions through research and innovative care to address and mitigate the mental health and traumatic brain injury crisis.
Many first responders are afflicted with heart disease, hypertension, hepatitis, chronic back injuries, hearings loss, and more.
These conditions can be work- related, as a matter of law, regardless of the actual cause of the condition or whether it occurred on or off duty. Although these conditions may be work-related legally, employers and insurance carriers often wrongfully deny claims. This is where we can step in. For first responders, a work injury involves much more than a simple workers’ compensation claim. There are employment, pension and Social Security issues that overlap and affect each other. Our years of experience enable us to work to ensure that every client receives the maximum benefits he or she is entitled to. We handle cases related to the following.
Our mission is to heal our nation’s warriors through our private, licensed, and accredited resort-style healing centers. We do this by specializing in substance abuse treatment and co-occurring psychological disorders, with special attention to post-traumatic stress, unresolved grief/loss, and moral injury. Our treatment courses provide the full continuum of care, from detox, inpatient (residential), day treatment, outpatient, sober living, and 1-on-1 counseling.
